Children learning together in a classroom

Our Programs

Evidence-Based Programs Built for Impact

Every program Zion Institute develops is designed to address social determinants of health — the upstream conditions that shape whether people can thrive. From early childhood education to capacity building for organizations, our programs are evidence-based, community-rooted, and built to scale.

Two Levels of Impact

Zion Institute operates at two levels: we run direct-service programs that serve children and families in southern Phoenix, and we develop replicable program models that other organizations can adopt. Both streams are grounded in 8+ years of hands-on experience and a deep commitment to addressing social determinants of health.

Our Early Childhood Education program provides a nurturing, structured learning environment for children ages 1–5. Rooted in evidence-based curriculum and trauma-informed care, the program builds the cognitive, social, and emotional foundations children need to thrive in school and in life. With 8+ years of proven outcomes, the Excellence Academy ECE model is a cornerstone of our work in southern Phoenix.

Social Impact Program Development

Zion Institute works with community-based organizations, nonprofits, and local leaders to design and develop social impact programs that address social determinants of health. Drawing on 30+ years of operational experience — including 8+ years running the Excellence Academy and The Well campus — we help organizations move from idea to implementation, building programs that are evidence-based, community-centered, and built for long-term sustainability.

Demonstration ModelAsset-Based Community Development

The Well Campus Model

The Well campus was a demonstration project that showed how existing community assets — a church building, neighborhood relationships, trusted leaders — could be activated to address social determinants of health. The model brought together early childhood education, family services, and community programming under one roof, proving that holistic impact is possible without building from scratch. Zion Institute now shares this model with organizations ready to replicate it.

Who It Serves

Faith communities, neighborhood organizations, and local institutions with existing assets seeking to activate them for broader community impact

  • Asset mapping and community needs assessment
  • Multi-service programming under one roof
  • Documented, replicable model for other communities
  • Demonstrated outcomes across education, health, and economic stability

International Business Development

Zion Institute's International Business Development program partners with Christian churches in Sierra Leone and Nigeria to build sustainable economic capacity within their congregations and surrounding communities. Conducted in collaboration with Bishop Earl Newton, Senior Pastor of Life Changers Global Ministries in South Phoenix and Kingdom Life Global Ministries in Africa, this program recognizes that the local church is often the most trusted and deeply rooted institution in African communities. We work alongside church leaders to develop business training, entrepreneurship frameworks, and income-generating initiatives that strengthen both the congregation and the broader community it serves.

Who It Serves

Christian churches, pastors, and congregation-based entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone and Nigeria seeking to build economic capacity and community self-sufficiency

  • Business training and entrepreneurship frameworks
  • Income-generating initiatives for congregations
  • Economic capacity building in surrounding communities
  • Church-based models for sustainable community development
